Trojans bounce back to force a 5th set

The Trojans were on the road Tuesday (10/15) to take on the Lake Roosevelt Raiders in a league match and lost in a tough fought 5 set battle.

The Trojans dropped the first 2 sets with scores of 18-25 and 16-25 before bouncing back and winning sets 3 and 4 with scores of 25-19 and 25-21. Set 5 ended with a score of 9-15.

  • Leading the team in kills was Maycee Ward with 10. Freshman Middle, Barbie Espinoza added 4.
  • Kendall Petre put up 2 blocks on the night and Maycee Ward and Josephine Thompson ended with 1 each.
  • Defensively, Libero, Melanie Marin led the team with 9 digs, Maycee Ward added 8 and Freshman Mackenzie Marble had 5.
  • Behind the service line, Freshman Barbie Espinoza served 11/11 with 2 aces- the only Trojan with 100% serving on the night.
  • Josephine Thompson served 20/23 with 4 aces and Evelyn De Jesus, Lauren Soliday and Kendall Petre all served 11/13.

Overall, the Trojans showed true grit, coming from behind to allow for a fifth set, played well with some new adjustments and never gave up on each other.

Tuesday’s loss puts the Trojans record at 8-4 overall and 3-2 in league.

In JV action, the Trojans won 2 sets to Lake Roosevelt’s 1 with set scores of 25-20, 25-15 and 16-25.

  • Leading the team in kills were Maya Hannah, Sarah Simmons and April Crist with 3 each.
  • Defensively, Devan Regan and Jenny Juarez led the team in digs with 4 each.
  • Trojans with 100% behind the service line include Jenny Juarez, 4/4 with 1 ace and Natalie Solorio, 3/3 with 1 ace.
  • Other serving highlights include Esme Angulo, who served 15/17 with 10 aces—including a streak of 7 straight aces.
  • Devan Regan served 10/12 with 3 aces and Sarah Simmons served 9/10 with 5 aces.

Tuesday’s win puts the Manson JV record at 10-1 overall as. 5-0 in league.

It was a great night of great volleyball.
