Varsity Volleyball is now 3-1 on the season

Manson hosted Omak Thursday and ended with their first loss of the season, 1 set to Omak’s 3. The Trojans came out and won the first set with a score of 25-20 before losing a hard fought battle in the second set with a score of 24-26. Manson let set 3 and 4 slip away with scores of 17-25 and 10-25.

The Trojans improved their serving greatly from their last match with Marylein Bernardo, Evelyn De Jesus and Lauren Soliday each serving 14/14. Kendall Petre served 7/7 and Josephine Thompson led the team in aces with 7.

  • Josephine Thompson led the team in kills with 6 and Lauren Soliday added 5 more.
  • Evelyn De Jesus racked up 4 blocks and Josephine Thompson put up 2 more.
  • Libero Melanie Marin had 32 digs and Josephine Thompson added 30.
  • Josephine also led the team in serve receive with a strong showing of 92% accuracy.

The Trojans played hard against a tough Omak team, but came up short in the end. Thursday’s loss puts the Trojan’s record at 3-1.

In JV action, the Trojans lost the match 1 set to 2 with set scores of 26-24, 22-25 and 17-25.

Leading the team behind the service line included Maya Hannah with 10/10 and 3 aces, Amy Marquez with 5/5, Stefany Luna with 14/15 with 3 aces and Esme Angulo served 12/14 with 1 ace.

  • Stefany Luna led the team in kills with 8 and in digs with 23.
  • Sarah Simmons added 6 kills and 17 digs and led the team in serve receive at 68% accuracy.

The loss puts the JV record at 3-1.

The C team played their first match of the season and won 2 sets to 1 with set scores of 25-20, 18-25 and 15-7.

Manson ended the night with 3 servers hitting 100%: Ava Reed 13/13 with 7 aces, Esme Estrada 6/6 with 2 aces and Lissett Hernandez 3/3.

  • Esme Estrada, Trinity Edwards and Ava Reed had 5 digs apiece, and Ava Reed added 2 kills for the Trojans.
  • Ava Reed also led the team in serve receive with 89% accuracy.

It was a great night of tough volleyball for all teams.
