On Wednesday, May 15th, Manson sent a large squad to Lake Roosevelt to compete for the League and District Championship Title. This was the second day of a two-day team tournament. Natalee Reyna and Genna Torres were set to compete against teammates Addie Richmond and Kayden Koth in the Championship Doubles Final. All four of these athletes had already earned a spot at State. However, Manson teammates Karly Naranjo and Olivia Smith were still in contention for a State bid.
To start the day, Olivia fought hard against the second seed from Liberty Bell, ultimately losing to an impressive opponent. This earned Olivia the 5th place position and she remains an alternate for Friday’s crossover match. Karly Naranjo earned her way to the 3rd/4th place match, ultimately losing in a close third set match to the same opponent Olivia faced. This earned Karly the 4th place spot, granting her a spot in Friday’s Crossover match in Omak at 2:00 p.m. In other words, Karly’s bid for a State spot continues.
To end the day, Manson put on an impressive show in the finals, with Natalee Reyna and Genna Torres winning in impressive fashion. These two athletes remain undefeated in League and have proven why they’re the number one ranked team in our League and District.
Naranjo takes to the courts on Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Omak to fight for her spot to State. The boys team of Ben Rasmusson and Ashton Fretwell compete in the district tournament on Thursday, May 16th at 2:00 p.m. at Chelan Shores to earn a spot at State. Go Trojans!
