Manson head coach Joey Johnson provides the recap of the Trojans most recent game last Friday night.

The first half of this game was filled with offensive fireworks, specifically the last 4 minutes of the 2nd quarter. After an 8-6 first quarter, both teams turned it on leading to a slight edge for Manson at halftime, 30-27. The Trojans scored on 4 TD passes by Vince Strecker who played an exceptional game. He had 2 TD passes to Johan Cruz and 2 TD passes to Zahyr Sanchez. Johan Cruz made great catches in traffic for both TDs. Zahyr caught a long ball and also scored on a slant that he took all the way to the house.

In the 2nd half the defense turned it up and did not let Kittitas score. Pressure on the QB and great defensive back play helped secure the win. Brooks Pinski had a huge sack late in the game to put Kittitas out of a scoring opportunity and bringing up a 4th and 25. The ground game of the Manson Trojans ran the clock the whole 2nd half. The Trojans ended with over 350 yards rushing and 200 yards passing.

Stats:

  • Passing: Vince Strecker 7 for 15, 214 yards, 4 TD
  • Rushing: Angel Lopez 16 carries for 180 yards
  • Cal Beazley 13 carries for 177 yards, 1 TD
  • Receiving: Johan Cruz 3 catches for 100 yards, 2 TD
  • Zahyr Sanchez 2 catches for 88 yards, 2 TD

Manson sits at 2-0 on the season and will travel to Whitworth University next Saturday to play in the Pine Bowl against Asotin. Asotin is 2-0 as well.
