It was a successful home opener for the Manson Trojans Friday night at the Manson Athletic Complex. Manson outscored the Cle-Elum Warriors 21-0 in the first half and then 14-6 in the 2nd half for a final score of 35 to 6. All phases of the game were clicking. The offense had 3 touchdowns in the air and 2 on the ground while the defense played fast all night. Additionally, the Special Teams blocked a punt for a huge momentum swing. “I’m really proud of our team and excited about the fact that we had so many contributors on offense and defense,” said Coach Johanson. “We had 3 different receivers score on offense and both our running backs scored. I was really impressed with our defense and how fast we were flying to the ball.”

Offensively the Trojans got on the board with a 1 yard TD run by Angel Lopez that was set up by a Cal Beazley 38 yard run on 4th down. The next score came from first year receiver Johan Cruz on a 56 yard long bomb from QB Vince Strecker. To cap off the first half Cal Beazley powered a 2-yard run into the endzone. In the 2nd half both Chris Vazquez and Zahyr Sanchez caught TD passes from Vince Strecker.

Defensively the Trojans had players flying around everywhere. The defensive line grinded all night and stuffed the run. Jesus Estrada had the lone sack of the night and Angel Lopez led the team with tackles. Another key moment for the defense and Special Teams was a blocked punt by Sophomore Davon Chavez which was a huge spark.

“We had a lot of fun tonight and the sidelines were buzzing. There are still a lot of things we need to improve on, but it’s always nice to start the season 1-0,” Coach Johanson.
