Costly interception snaps Trojans multi-year winning streak against the Warriors

Game Recap by Coach Joey Johanson

Score: Cle Elum-Roslyn 21 Manson 17

The Trojans went south for their first game of the year. Manson played Cle Elum who they had beat the previous three years in non-league matchups.

Manson started off the first half looking like they would sweep Cle Elum for the fourth straight year. The Trojans were leading by 10 (17 to 7) with the ball when they threw a costly interception that was returned for a TD. On the next possession Manson was pushing into the red zone when they fumbled the ball. Cle Elum had a huge reception for over 30 yards which set up their scoring drive to win the game 21-17.

In the end the Trojans just turned the ball over during critical times in the game. Manson had several opportunities to put the game away, but didn’t take advantage.

A couple highlights of the game were a 40 yard touchdown run by QB Vince Strecker who dropped back to pass, but then weaved his way through traffic for a score. Another touchdown came on a short pass to Quinn Williams who took it the rest of the way for a 20 yard TD. Chris Vazquez had an amazing 35 yard field goal and played incredible on defense with 2 interceptions.

The Trojans look to rebound at home this week against Lind-Ritzville. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM on Friday night (Sept. 13th).
