On February 1, 2025, talented young musicians from the Chelan area showcased their skills at the North Central Washington Music Educators Association (NCWMEA) Regional Solo & Ensemble Competition held in Wenatchee, WA. This annual event provides a platform for students to perform solo pieces before adjudicators, receiving valuable feedback and the opportunity to advance to state-level competitions.
The NCWMEA Regional Solo & Ensemble Competition is a significant event in the local music education calendar, bringing together students from various schools across the region. Participants perform in categories such as woodwinds, brass, percussion, strings, and vocal solos, aiming for superior ratings and the chance to progress to the state competition.
The dedication and hard work of these students reflect the high level of music education in our region. Their achievements not only highlight individual talent, work ethic, and family support, but also underscore the support and guidance provided by local music educators, private lesson teachers, accompanists, and their community.
John Duff, local pianist and accompanist rehearsed with each student soloist and helped prepare them for this event.
