On Wednesday, September 6th through Tuesday, September 12th, the City of Chelan and Historic Downtown Chelan Association will conduct live demonstrations of configuration options up for consideration in the downtown infrastructure project.

This process is the next step in the Imagine Downtown Chelan collaborative planning strategy project undertaken by the City and HDCA. According to the published timeline, City Council will review the public’s feedback of these options and possibly make a determination at their September 26th council meeting.

Residents and visitors are invited downtown to test the different configurations to give feedback. The tests will consist of repainting 3 parking stalls at 45 degrees and testing 9′, 9.5′, and 10-foot stall widths on both sides of the street. Please note that this will impact 4 stalls on each side of Woodin.

In addition, lines demonstrating sidewalk widths and their impact on sidewalk capacity, parking stalls, and Woodin Avenue for truck deliveries, snow storage, and traffic will be done at the same location.

The parking stall and sidewalk tests will be on Woodin at the corner of Emerson.

There will also be a temporary mid-block crosswalk in front of Wells Fargo as part of the testing.

A QR Code will be provided on bi-lingual signage for the public to provide input. The full survey link will can be found starting September 6th at historicchelan.org. If anyone prefers a printed survey, email Aimee Sheridan at hdca@nwi.net.
