Traffic will be detoured to SR 971/Navarre Coulee Road
information released by WSDOT
A crew with the Washington State Department of Transportation will perform a routine inspection on the Knapps Hill Tunnel, Wednesday, April 14.
The inspection will require the closure of US 97A north of Entiat between milepost 223 and 230 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Traffic will be detoured to SR 971/Navarre Coulee Rd. during the inspection. This detour adds approximately 20 minutes to the trip, so travelers between Wenatchee and Chelan should consider US 2/97 on the east side of the river for a more direct trip during the scheduled closure.
This inspection is conducted every two years and allows WSDOT to review the structural condition of the interior of the tunnel, as well as the rock slope directly outside.
Any changes to the closure schedule will be shared on the travel alert page and on Twitter @WSDOT_East.
