information released
On 10-21-2024 at 2053 hours, the Wenatchee Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. The contact occurred at Russel & Monroe in Wenatchee. During the traffic stop, it was discovered the 51-year-old driver had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest. During a search of his person, officers located evidence of illegal narcotic sales.
K9 Maverick responded to the location and after conducting an exterior search, he positively alerted to the presence of narcotics odor. The vehicle was impounded for the application of a search warrant.
Once the search warrant was granted and served, WPD located approximately 500 Fentanyl pills, 1 ounce of Fentanyl powder, and 1 ounce of Methamphetamine. Also located in the car was a firearm. The driver is a convicted felon, which made the possession of the firearm unlawful.
Tamayo was booked in the Chelan County Regional Justice Center for two counts of Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 2nd degree. He is currently being held on $100,000 bail.
A great example of pro-active police work by the Wenatchee Police Department paired with the utilization of K9 Maverick for a great result.
