Lake Chelan Now was there to broadcast live

A LakeChelanNow.com production

More than 100 interested citizens turned out for the recent public forum hosted by Lake Chelan Community Hospital on Wednesday, May 8 at the Chelan Senior Center.

The presentation was led by Board Chair Phyllis Gleasman and included comments from all board members including Mary Murphy, Mary Signorelli, Jordana LaPort and Fred Miller, as well as hospital CEO Steve Patoni. The purpose of the meeting was to update the community about all the board committees and their activities; however, the primary area of interest by most in attendance was the facilities committee update – which included a status report on the new hospital.

Lake Chelan Now broadcast the forum live. For those who were unable to attend the meeting or to listen to the broadcast live, we are providing an edited version in the link below that picks up where the conversation switched from committee updates to focus on the facilities plan and timeline for the new hospital.

While originally planned to be in excess of 70,000 square feet, the size of the project has been scaled back by approximately 30% to an estimated 54,000 square feet in order to remain within the budget approved through the bond, a USDA loan and other funding sources.

The latest projections indicate that ground breaking will occur in spring of 2020 — approximately one year from now. Construction completion is scheduled for October of 2021.
