Fire Extinguished Rapidly Despite High Heat and Winds

A structure fire in a home on Apple Acres Road was rapidly extinguished through the quick and cooperative efforts of a multi-jurisdictional firefighting team.

I spoke with Firefighter Tyler Rains as he left the scene. “I was the second engine in,” he said. “I wasn’t on shift today but I live close by so I got here quickly.”

He praised his District 7 colleagues saying “the other guys were out the door in less than two minutes.  You always wish you could be quicker, but you can only do so much.”

In this case, so much was enough to save this house from total destruction.

Rains indicated “it could have been worse.” High heat and winds could easily have driven the small spot fires from this house into the surrounding dry hills. Recently a home in this area was totally destroyed by fire.

A Fire Weather Warning is currently in effect for Chelan County. Officials continue to warn residents and visitors to use extreme caution.
