Home Tour Preview Part One: On a Whim and Meraki Lodge

Information and photos released by Hospital Guild B

Each year, four Chelan Valley homeowners graciously open their doors for the annual Lake Chelan Hospital Guild B Home Tour. The 2019 home tour includes On a Whim, Meraki Lodge, French Flair and Italian Villa.

Lake Chelan Now would like to offer you a preview of these spectacular homes and encourage you to purchase tickets to view them up close from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21.

Concurrent with the home tour is an art show at Larc Hill Vineyard Ranch, the new event center next door (downlake) to Tsillan Cellars where booths will feature locally hand crafted items and artwork on display and for sale. Admission to the art show is free.

Home Tour tickets are $25 apiece. All proceeds from this annual event are used to purchase much-needed equipment for the Lake Chelan Community Hospital.

Sneak Preview of  “On a Whim” – 350 Porcupine Lane, Chelan

This barn red, modern farmhouse sits high in The Lookout planned community with sweeping views of Lake Chelan and the surrounding hills.  Seemingly a two-story home, it actually includes four levels, one for the two-car garage.

On the ground floor, the spacious living area, decorated in soft neutral tones with accents of blue, has wide-plank hardwood floors and includes a cozy fireplace and Casablanca fan.

The open plan layout looks out to a large deck through a remarkable 15’ glass wall — called a NanaWall — that folds back for unhindered access between indoors and out.

Upstairs the master bedroom, with its own private deck and ensuite bath with walk-in shower, continues the restful color scheme, here accented with a triptych of leafy trees.

Two other bedrooms and a bath complete this floor, each room with handsome knotty alder doors set off with contrasting hardware.

Downstairs, a surprise awaits.  Visitors find themselves in a large media room with a king sleep sofa, game table, and bright wall art.  The bedroom has built-in bunks for four, each with its own reading light and drawers.  Across the hall, a full bath is decorated with colorful vintage posters.

“On a Whim” offers families a spacious and surprisingly private getaway at Lake Chelan.

Meraki Lodge

Coming into Meraki Lodge, visitors are greeted by magnificent views of the Chelan Valley, the surrounding vineyards and orchards, and the lake beyond.  The pool, with its cabana and gaily colored umbrellas, sits on a terrace slightly down hill from the lodge itself.

The lodge welcomes us with a towering stone fireplace reaching to the high vaulted ceiling.  Light pours into the comfortable Great Room and dining area beyond, highlighting the recurrent patterns, colors, and materials used throughout:  black, white, charcoal, wood, and stone.

The baths share a black and white checked motif, as does the dining table runner.  All interior doors and millwork are knotty alder with honey stain, and the stone vent above the stove echoes the fireplace.

The main elements of this five-bedroom lodge occupy the ground floor, including the master suite with its spacious bath.  The guest room features a sliding barn door that cleverly conceals the bath beyond.  In the big, open kitchen, modern pendant lights, similar to fixtures in the Great Room, reflect in white quartz countertops.  The pantry is handy nearby.  Upstairs, two large bedrooms with ensuite baths provide plenty of privacy, and a seating area looks out over the valley.  Above the garage, an apartment includes a bedroom, bath, and a separate living area with an efficiency kitchen.

About the LCCH Foundation and Guild B Post-Partum Family Room

In 2017, the Lake Chelan Valley passed a $20 million bond to build a new hospital on hospital-owned property at Chelan Apple Blossom Drive. The new hospital will provide private patient rooms, larger delivery rooms, increased outpatient capacity, and a bigger emergency room. It will also have space for rehabilitative therapy, a laboratory, and a radiology facility, as well as an expanded surgery department and a helicopter pad for emergency transfers. It will be a fully ADA- accessible hospital.

Guild B was the first group to purchase a room in the new hospital! The Guild B Post-Partum Family Room will allow the new mom, father, and baby to spend the first few days after birth together as a family, a joy that space constraints at the current hospital made impossible. The proceeds from this year’s Home Tour, along with last year’s receipts, will complete the purchase of the room.
