Accident Occurs on Highway 97 near Orondo

Three people were seriously injured and transported to Central Washington Hospital in a two-car head-on collision on US Highway 97 four miles north of Orondo.
At 6:48 PM Orondo Fire, Ballard Ambulance and the Washington State Patrol responded to the report of an accident near Daroga Park. On arrival two heavily damaged cars were found with occupants in both vehicles needing extrication. The patients were extricated and treated at the scene, then transported to the hospital for further treatment. Waterville Ambulance was returning from a call and responded to the scene and assisted with treatment along with Ballard Ambulance with both transporting patients.
The extrication was done quickly using state of the art battery over hydraulic extrication tools purchased by Orondo Fire in 2019 due to the severe accidents occurring on US 97.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating the accident.
