The long awaited start of building a new hospital for the Lake Chelan Valley begins this Friday with a special groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for 1:30 pm at 110 Apple Blossom Drive near Walmart.

The hospital is being constructed on 11.6 acres of land across from CVCH at a total cost of not more than $44.5-million. The project, a single-story design of up to 52,250 square feet, is being built by Bouten Construction with a completion date anticipated in August of 2022.

The new hospital will offer 12 patient beds, associated site development, and parking to support patients, hospital staff and visitors. Programmed departments will include Emergency, Lab, Imaging, Surgery, Med/Surge, Pharmacy, Mobile MRI, as well as Physical and Occupational Therapy, Dietary and Administration.

Funding for the new hospital includes $20-million that was voter approved, a low interest Department of Agriculture loan, and $2-miilion from the Lake Chelan Health and Wellness Foundation. Hospital funds and grants also contributed to the project.

The public is encouraged to attend the Friday groundbreaking and the first 100 to show up will be given a gift bag that will include an apple from Chelan Fruit as well as 100 bags of donuts from Family Bean. For those unable to attend, LakeChelanNow will livestream the event on Facebook.
