Chelan prevails over Manson in Valley soccer competition

Tuesday evening the Goats traveled up lake to take on the Manson Trojans in a non-league competition. The Goats came out strong from the first whistle and took control of the match. The Goats worked hard the entire match working the ball through the field. It wasn’t till the 26th minute when Sr. Jailyn Reinhart gave Sr. Maya Cowan a pass back off a give and go where Cowan found the back of the net to give the Goats the 1-0 lead going into half.

Going into the second half the Goats continued to keep attacking the goal with the Manson keeper coming up with some big saves. The Goats were able to rally and get their second goal of the game with an assist from Sr. Arabelle Finch to Sr. Maya Cowan.  In the 78th minute of the match Maya Cowan was able to break the defense and get the final goal of the match with an unassisted goal. The final goal gave Maya her second hat trick on the season.

The Goats had solid play all around the field this evening, with Fr. Evelyn Sanchez Sr. Peyton Bodle and Fr. Madeline Cowan all creating many opportunities that the Trojans defended well. The defense of the Goats was held down by Sr. Madi Barker, giving So. Avari Barker the Shut-out for the game.

Tomorrow the JV will be hosting the Okanogan Bulldogs in a non-league match at 4pm. Followed by on Thursday the JV and Varsity will be hosting the Cascade Kodiaks for a league match with the varsity game at 4:30pm
