The Goats traveled up the lake to take on the Manson Trojans in a cross-town rivalry. The Goats came out hard from the start pressing the goal. Jr. Ashlynn Espana was able to find the back of the net in the 8th minute of play, giving the Goats their first lead of the season. With an unfortunate handball in the box the Trojans were given a penalty kick to tie up the game 1-1. Going into half the game was tied with the Goats dominating the field of play.
The Goats knew they were going to need to continue to put pressure on the trojans to get the ball in the back of the net to get the win. The go-ahead goal came off a deep punt from Jr. goalkeeper Avari Barker with the ball bouncing over the midfield allowing Sr. Lizbeth Sanchez to run onto the ball and take a few touches and put the ball past the Manson goalkeeper. So. Madeline Cowan who had been pressing the goal all game was finally able to drop one in off a direct free kick. Rounding out the scoring was Fr. Lily Peterson who redirected a cross from Madeline Cowan and chested the ball into the back of the net.
With a few Varsity starters out with injuries all JV Players traveled and played for the Goats this evening. Having the whole team contribute to the win with four different players scoring has given the Goats a boost of confidence as they continue their season.
The Goats will be traveling to Othello on Thursday to take on the Huskies who are a 2A school. This game will be a battle for the Goats as the Othello Huskies are a dominant team in the CWAC. GO GOATS!
