Chelan Soccer hosts Omak during Senior Night on Tuesday

information released by Coach Longmire

On Thursday, the Goats took on the Cascade Kodiaks in a CTL league match. The Goats have been working on maintaining possession and working together as a whole group. Tonight, that is just what they did.

The Goats came out pressing the Kodiaks hard from the start of the match. The Kodiaks were very physical in their play which resulted in the Goats getting some free kick opportunities. In the 18th minute of play a foul was called about 30 yard out from goal. Sr. Maya Cowan stepped up to take the kick. She sent a well-placed ball across the face of the goal. The goal keeper for Cascade got her hands on the ball, however Fr. Evelyn Sanchez was able to get her body on the ball and get it in the back of the net to give the Goats the 1-0 lead. The Goats continued to control most of the play throughout the match. Unfortunately, the Kodiaks were able to equal the score by a controversial call in which the Goats goal keeper So. Avari Barker had gained control of a shot and was bummed by one of the Kodiak players who was then able to place the ball in the back of the net. This play resulted in the 1-1 tie going into the half. The game continued to go back and forth for the final 40 minutes of the half ending with a 1-1 tie.

With the conclusion of regulation, it was then that the Goats would go into two 5 min overtimes which still ended in a tie. In the CTL if the game if the game is still tied at the end of regulation and overtime it goes into a shootout. This proved to be a difficult task as not because of the shootout but because of the lack of natural lighting. The Goats fell 4-2 in shots in the shoot-out.

The JV squads were also able to take the field tonight in a match where the JV Goats have improved tremendously. In the previous competition vs, the Kodiaks the game was much more lopsided. Tonight, the Goats only fell 1-0. Unfortunately, they were only able to play two 25-minute halves. This was so the Varsity could get a full game in. The JV will be playing Monday vs. the Omak Pioneers for a full 80-minute match.

The Varsity will host their final home match of the season which will also be their senior night this next Tuesday vs. the Omak Pioneers. The match will begin at 4pm with the honoring of our seniors concluding the match on Tuesday. All 8 seniors will be honored at this time.
