Friday evening, the Goats traveled north to take on the Lady Pioneers in an early CTL league match. Going into the game, the Goats knew it would be back and forth the entire match. Knowing this, the Goats have been preparing all week for the challenge at hand. The Goats came out quickly, pressing the goal with a few goal-scoring opportunities. It was because of these opportunities that in the eleventh minute of play, Freshman Krista Carlton was able to sneak past the Omak defenders and open the Goats’ season.

The Game continued to battle back and forth, with both teams playing a very physical game. Unfortunately, in the 74th minute of play, the Pioneers were able to battle back and score on the Goats. The match ended in a tie in regulation. With it being a league match, the game went to two 5-minute goal and goal extra time. With two minutes remaining, a hard tackle was made on an Omak striker, and the official called it a foul in the box, which resulted in a PK. The Pioneers were able to come out on top in this game. The Goats are fired up to take them on again in league play again in October.

JV Game:

With a few players out sick and some still getting eligible, the JV Goats came out and played a modified match. The Goats came out strong and dominated the Omak Pioneers. They attacked the end line and were able to gain a corner kick. Sophomore Lizzy Hutchinson sent the corner across the face of the goal to find Freshman Kayla Gonzalez on the backside to finish the ball in the back of the net. In the second half of play, it was Lizzy Hutchinson who again found the feet of Sophomore Brianna Mercado, who sent a low-driven ball to the near post for the second goal for the Goats. Finishing off scoring for the Goats after two assists was Sophomore Lizzy Hutchinson with an assist from Freshman Lucia Galvan. The JV ended the modified match with a 3-0 victory over the Pioneers.
