Spring remodeling projects have been delayed by the coronavirus, but here’s something you can plan on: Chelan PUD has increased the rebates on energy efficient windows and insulation – in some cases, doubled the amounts.
For example, customers who use furnace, baseboard or wall heat in homes with single-pane windows can get $12 per square foot for upgrading to energy-efficient windows. The previous rebate was $6.
Here’s a chart with all the new options:
The rebates are retroactive to Jan. 1, 2020. They were planned even before the coronavirus outbreak, said Josh Mitchell, residential energy adviser.
“We want to make it more affordable to replace inefficient single-pane windows, especially where the heat source is not a heat pump,” Mitchell said. “We also want to make it more affordable for homeowners who don’t have any insulation in their attics, walls and floors to put some in these places so they can save energy for the next 40 years.”
With businesses closed due to the pandemic, some home improvement projects have to wait. But customers can prepare for an upgrade by checking in with local contractors now. They’re ready to answer questions about windows, insulation, heating and cooling systems and more.
Do a little prep work now using this guide and you’ll be ready to roll when the coronavirus crisis has passed.
