Possible Meteor Spotted and Felt in North Central Washington

Lake Chelan Now got a couple of interesting questions via messenger this afternoon around 1:30 p.m — one who witnessed a “falling star” north of downtown Chelan with a multi-colored tail that burst and dissipated just above the hills. Then another query at about the same time from Stehekin describing what sounded like a sonic boom.
What just happened?
According to the pending fireball reporting logs maintained by the American Meteor Society, there were numerous reports of a meteor hitting Earth’s atmosphere around 1:30 this afternoon in Washington State. Law enforcement agencies throughout North Central Washington also received reports about fireball sightings and explosion sounds.
