Officials urge continued caution driving on ice and freezing rain

Five people were transported to Central Washington Hospital on Wednesday from a five-car collision on US Highway 97 seven miles north of Orondo.
At 6:40 AM Orondo Fire, Ballard Ambulance and the Washington State Patrol responded to the report of an accident near Daroga Park. On arrival two accidents were found, one involving a semi and passenger car and then a three-car rear-ender accident. both with heavily damaged vehicles.
Three patients were freed from the vehicles using extrication tools. A total of 11 patients were treated at the scene with five transported to Central Washington Hospital for further treatment.
The roadway was extremely slick from an overnight snowfall.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating the accident.
