Residents asked to share input on transportation projects

information released

The City of Chelan is excited to announce the launch of a comprehensive transportation survey, inviting residents and stakeholders to share their input on the future of transportation in our community. This survey is a critical step in developing priorities for the newly formed Transportation Benefit District (TBD).

The City of Chelan will be asking voters on the November 2024 ballot to vote on a .3% increase in sales tax (8.4% to 8.7%) to fund transportation projects. Projects identified via the survey and refined during a Transportation Open House in September will tentatively be added to the Six-Year Transportation Improvement Plan (STIP), which is drafted by staff and presented to the City Council for adoption in early 2025.

Only projects identified on the STIP are eligible for grant or TBD funding.

We are seeking the public’s thoughts and recommendations on various aspects of the transportation system inside the city limits, including roadways, public transit, pedestrian pathways, and the Woodin Ave. bridge. Leveraging the City’s new platform for collecting community feedback, ThoughtExchange, members of the community can share their transportation priorities and have those suggestions ranked by other residents.

This collaboration is essential to ensure that the transportation infrastructure meets the needs and expectations of the community.

How to Participate:

  1. Take the Survey: Visit the online survey at https://cityofchelan.us/transportation to share transportation recommendations.
  2. Rate Responses: After completing the survey, rate and comment on other participants’ recommendations. Input will be officially recorded and carefully considered in drafting the STIP.

By participating, residents are helping to shape a transportation plan that reflects the needs, priorities and aspirations of the Lake Chelan community. We encourage all residents, business owners, and stakeholders to take part in this important survey.
