The City of Chelan has hired SCJ Alliance to implement the wayfinding objective included in the Chelan Downtown Master Plan.
This is an objective meant to create more effective signage through the city. The overarching goal of the wayfinding program is to focus on directional signage to lead folks to attractions and amenities and attractions with a consistent, recognizable image.
Representatives from SCJ Alliance were present at last night’s farmers market where they distributed information and shared the steps of the process. Today, Friday, 9/20, they will be holding an exercise with any interested community members at the picnic shelter in Riverwalk Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
According to Rachel Granrath, SCJ Senior Planner, “folks can come by Riverwalk Park and share design priorities, sketch ideas and then we’ll really dive into the sign mapping.”
A goal of the wayfinding process is to integrate creativity and elements that identify Chelan’s heritage and natural surroundings into the design process for the signage.
