Earth Day 30th Anniversary Celebration Scheduled for Saturday

Information Compiled

Just in time for Earth Day, Community Members will have the opportunity to dump household items, unwanted electronics and yard debris through a series of clean-up efforts in and around Chelan.

Citywide Clean Up Friday, April 19th

The City of Chelan has designated Friday, April 19 as a Community Clean Up Day. They encourage community members to take a couple of hours today and pick up litter and trash around town. City Public Works have provided four dumpsters at locations throughout town to dump litter and items picked up along streets and alleys in town.

The four locations are: Don Morse Parking Lot, South Chelan Play Fields Parking Lot, Fire Station Parking Lot and City Hall Parking Lot.

Various community groups have signed up to tackle specific streets and neighborhoods – including Rotary, Historic Downtown Chelan Association, the Trails Alliance, Lake Chelan Community Hopital and Clinics, City Staff and others. Chelan Middle School 6th graders will be spending the afternoon tidying up areas of town as a community project. If you can’t participate in the clean up itself, be sure to honk and wave to show your encouragement.

Deepwater Home and Electronics Recycling Event, Friday, April 19th – Monday, April 29th

Also starting today through April 29th, Deepwater Home and Electronics will be kicking off their Earth Day Celebration with an electronics recycling event. They have located a large bin (pictured below) at the intersection of Emerson and Okanogan adjacent to Riverwalk Park where they are accepting computers, monitors, printers, TV’s and other electronics. It is their intent to offer computer recycling events like this on a quarterly basis.

They have also added a small bin at their store to for small electronics such as cell phones, batteries, cables, connectors, printer ink and other items.

Deepwater Home and Electronics will be just one of the local businesses and organizations represented at Saturday’s Earth Day Celebration. They invite you to stop by and learn more about how to recycle your electronics.
