Several CHS Track and Field Team members reached new Personal Records (PR) over the past week.
Royal Invite: May 4th
Even though we did not win the Royal Invite track meet, our boys and girls team have a lot to be a proud of, including a number of Personal Records that were set this past Friday.
On the boys’ side:
- Bert Mendivil started out with a Personal Record in the Long Jump; nearly jumping over 20 feet. He jumped 19 feet 8 inches. He followed up his jumping performance with his best 100 meter dash. His time of 12.2 was able to get him 18th out of 42.
- Kyle Jackson ran his best 200 meter dash with a time of 25.32 and Skyler Gordon also ran his best time of 25.79.
- Javier Torres started off for our Distance runners. His time of 2:16.11 placed him 12th out of 32.
- Christopher Knight ran his best time of 4:46.11 in the 1600 meter run placing 5th overall.
- Cameron Manda continues to improve in the Hurdles… His time of 46.27 is his best of the season.
- Matt Smith and Hunter Logan both PR in the Shot Put. Matt threw 38 ft 6.25 inches and Logan threw 36 ft 2 inches.
- Hunter Logan also PR in the discus. His throw of 103 ft 6 inches placed him 14th out of 35 throwers.
- Braden Williams finished tied for 4th with a vault of 11 feet and almost clearing 11 ft 6 inches.
On the girls’ side:
- Ava Dickes and Matea Ivory perform well in the 100 meter dash. Ava’s time of 13.05 got her 2nd overall and Matea ran her best time of the year; 13.34 and got her 5th overall out of 44 girls.
- Matea followed up with the 200 meter dash and she also ran her best time; 27.09 and got her 3rd overall.
- Molly Oswald also came back with a strong performance of her own. 27.98 got her 5th overall; there were over 35 girls in this event.
- Our Girls 4×100 relay team of Lucy Bordner, Ava Dickes, Molly Oswald and Matea Ivory all ran well. Their time of 52.75 placed them 3rd overall.
- Our Girls 4×400 meter relay team of Ava, Matea, Molly and Ashlyn Sanderson ran a great race against a loaded field. Their time of 4:25.47 placed them 6th overall.
- Martiza Blanco threw her best in the Shot Put this year. 31 ft and 2.5 inches placed Maritza 6th overall at the meet and places her in the top 5 for the CTL.
- Hailee Huddleston continues to progress toward 90 feet in the Javelin. She threw 86 ft and 3 inches in a tough field.
- Lucy Bordner made it to the Triple Jump Finals and jumped 30 ft 11 inches.
We are trending in the right direction for both the girls and boys team. We are hoping for another great week of practice. Our students athletes continue to put in the work and have the desire to get better. Our coaching staff is looking forward to the challenge of competing for a League Title. Wednesday May 9th at 4:00 pm the CTL teams will meet at Peshastin. The Goats look forward to this week. Good luck to all Goat Sports as we move toward to Post Season play. BCS Meet: Saturday, April 28
I hope that your weekend went well. Lots to report on from our BCS Meet from this past Saturday.
Our boys team had alot going on with a number of kids in running and field events.
- We started off with Bert Mendivil running in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.53.
- Kyle Jackson ran well in the 200 meter dash. His time of 26.05 placed him 29th out of 70 plus runners.
- In the 1600 meter run we had 3 runners and they all did well. Chris Knight placed 6th overall, in a loaded field, with a time of 4:50.97 a personal best for him. Javier Torres placed 16th with a time of 5:04.27 and Ivan Duenas placed 26th with a time of 5:20.02
- Cameron Manda nearly placed in the top 8 in both the 110 High hurdles and the 300 intermediate hurdles.
- Kevin Cazares nearly placed in the top 8 with his best throw of the year at 113 feet 11 inches.
- Matt Smith placed 3rd overall in the Javelin with a throw of 128 feet and 4 inches.
- Javier Pastor placed 6th in the Pole Vault clearing 10 feet.
- Bert placed 4th overall in the Long Jump at 19 feet 4.50 inches and 7th place in the Triple Jump right at 38 feet.
On our girls side we started off with some fire works.
- Our team of Ava Dickes, Matea Ivory, Molly Oswald and Elly Collins barely got beat at the end of the 4×200 by a game Bellevue Christian Team. Their time of 1:50.29 placed them 2nd.
- Ava and Matea ran the 100 meter dash for us and placed 4th and 7th overall. Ava’s time was 13.47 and Matea ran 13.72.
- Ava Dickes came back and ran a good 200 with a time of 27.40 placing her 2nd overall with Molly placing 5th overall with a time of 28.80.
- Lucy Bordner also came in 7th with a Personal Best time of 29.47.
- Matea Ivory ran a solid time in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:06.75, beating her previous best time by more than 4 seconds.
We had three good performances in the girls 800 meter run. Ashlyn Sanderson ran a Personal Best time of 2:36.89 placing her 3rd. Molly came in with a time of 2:37 and barely being beat out by Ashlyn. Rosa came in with a solid race time of 2:40.59. All three girls, not only scored major points for us, but also ran their best times of the year.
- Elly Collins came in and ran a strong 300 meter hurdle race beating her previous best time. Her time of 47.81 seconds brings her first overall at the meet.
- The girls 4×100 team made up of Molly, Ava, Elly Collins and Matea Ivory placed 1st. With better hand offs this week we continue to get better. Their time of 51.95 was nearly 3 seconds better than everyone else.
- Hailee Huddleston placed 6th overall in the Javelin with a throw of 86 feet 4 inches which is a PR for her.
- Hayley Watson placed 4th overall in the High Jump clearing 4 feet 4 inches and ALMOST cleared 4 feet 6 inches.
- Elly also came in first in the Pole Vault clearing and acheving a new PR at 10 feet 6 inches in wet conditions.
- Lastly Hailee Huddleston placed 8th in the triple jump nearly jumping 27 feet.
A fun and high note for our girls team was the Throwers 4×100 meter relay. This team was made up of runners who didn’t run an open event but rather had only competed in field events. Hailee Huddleston, Hayley Watson, Aislinn Davis and Talitha Zelaya placed 1st in this event and each girl received a gold baton for placing 1st.
With lots of top 8 finishes, our girls team was able to place 2nd overall to a game Bellevue Christian team who scored over 100 team points. We look forward to another tough week of practice and finishing up our last regular season track meet at Royal on May 4th.
After that we have a Track meet May 9th for the CTL League meet in Peshastin and May 17th is the District qualifier for State. Thank you again for all of the support this year and I hope that we get to see more of you during the next 3 weeks. Go Goats
