The reigning NBA 3-point Champion is one of our own

Shocking the NBA world and much of the nation’s fan base, former Chelan Goat and current Brooklyn Net Joe Harris captured the 2019 Mountain Dew 3-point contest during All Star weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Spectrum Center.
While it may have surprised many that Harris was able to take down a loaded field of shooters led by Steph Curry, basketball fans in North Central Washington, Brooklyn and Virginia greeted the news with a “I knew he could do it” reaction.
Harris was the first shooter of the contest and applied early pressure with a strong 25-point performance. He would finish third in the round and ended up in the finals with the favorite Steph Curry and Buddy Hield.
Harris again went first in the finals and rang up 26 points as he drained the final five money balls from the right corner.
Over the course of the two rounds, Joe hit all 10 on the Money Ball rack. His score would hold up as Curry hit four of his last five money balls and fell just short of tying Harris with his 24 points.
Hield finished third with 19 points. At one point in the championship round Joey “Buckets” hit 12 consecutive shots.
It was exciting to see the instant reaction to the Harris win as social media sites blew up with the news. “Joe Harris” was trending on Twitter for several hours.
While Harris should have been amongst the favorites, considering he’s second in the league in 3-point shooting, most of the attention was centered around the Curry brothers and defending champion Devon Booker. As you would expect, Joe Harris is the talk of the town locally, but for this All-Star weekend he’s also the talk of the nation.
Harris was supported in Charlotte by a handful of teammates as well as his parents Joe and Alice, girlfriend Ina and sister Jaicee.
It has been reported that Joe was the last one invited into the contest and his appearance was aided by a humorous Brooklyn Net promo video. Check it out if you haven’t seen it.
Brooklyn Nets Fought for Joe’s Invitation to 3-pt Competition
Harris became the first player in Nets history to win the 3-point competition. The former Chelan Goat and Virginia Cavalier is in the midst of a career year for points, rebounds, assists, minutes played and of course 3-point shooting. Most importantly the Nets are in the hunt for the playoffs for the first time in many years.
