East Valley (Yakima) @ Chelan (non-league)
We appreciate 2A East Valley making the long trek up here to play.  Both of our squads are large and evenly matched, so it was a great afternoon of competitive tennis matches.

Girls:  Chelan 3, East Valley 2

  • #1 Singles:  Brooklyn Foyle (C) def Arella Mendoza 6-2, 6-0
  • #2 Singles:  Avelina Dearte (EV) def Madeline Cowan 7-5, 6-3
  • #1 Doubles:  Emily Knautz/Ceci Mendoza (EV) def Taylor Hatherell/Keira Gjerde 6-0, 6-1
  • #2 Doubles:  Reese Bordner/Kyla Otom (C) def Gigi Morrier/Alexis Overacker 6-0, 6-0
  • #3 Doubles:  Olivia Nelson/Betsy McLemore (C) def Ximena Vegas Martinez/Emily Flores 6-0,6-4
This was a big win for the depth of our program.  We were missing a few of our top players today, but our JV swing players rotated up and won their matches to seal the victory at the end of the evening.  Great work Reese, Kyla, Liv and Betsy!
The Chelan girls are now 4-1 heading into spring break.

Boys:  Chelan 3, East Valley 2

  • #1 Singles:  Cameron Erb (EV) def Elijah Moody 6-0, 6-0
  • #2 Singles:  Angel Mendez (C) defCamden Hauver 7-5, 6-4
  • #1 Doubles: Lleyton Fast/Luke Hartman (EV) def Loen Moody/Sean Rynd 6-2, 6-1
  • #2 Doubles:  Nick Diaz-Manda/Cooper Neff (C) def Giovanni Munguia/Judah Wheeler 5-7, 7-5, 6-1
  • #3 Doubles:  Caden Griggs/Caleb  Bertomeu (C) def Grayson Toth/Braxton Miller 6-4, 6-3
Same story for the boys:  Chelan was without the top 3 boys on the ladder and still managed a team victory.  Props to the JV swing players who won their matches:  Nick, Coop, Caden and Caleb!
The boys inch above .500 with the win at 3-2
