Chelan Splits with Ephrata in Tennis Season Opener

Girls lose and Boys win in Tuesday matches in Chelan

Ephrata @ Chelan (non-league) This matchup was the regular season opener for both teams. Even though it was a home match for Chelan, we elected to play our guest’s 2A format of 2 singles and 3 doubles (as opposed to our 1A CTL format of 3 singles and 2 doubles) so that more players received some varsity reps.

Conditions were not ideal, as the wind made play difficult. Oddly, there were very few close sets throughout the evening.

I was pleased how well this matchup played out considering Chelan was missing four key players tonight. In fact, six of the eight girls in the lineup were playing their 1st regular season varsity match ever, so that’s actually a great result!

It was an experienced Chelan squad that was able to keep Ephrata at arm’s length for the duration of most of these matches.
