Chelan hosted Okanogan in a Caribou Trail League basketball doubleheader Tuesday night with the Lady Goats coming out on top 52-35, while the boys lost to the first place Bulldogs 75-52 in the late game.
Sophomore Katie Rainville led Chelan in scoring for the second straight game finishing with a game high 17 points. The Lady Goats played tough defense and held Okanogan to 16 points in the first half as they led 24-16 at the break. Chelan had a big third quarter and built up a 13-point lead at 42-29 and cruised to the 17n point victory. In addition to Rainville, Chelan had two others in double figures with Lexie Gleasman and Ashley Sams scoring 10 points each.
In the boys game, Chelan lost to the talented Bulldogs as the visitors jumped out to a 21-13 lead after the first quarter, led by 16 at the half and cruised to the 75-52 win to take over sole possession of first place as Cashmere was upset Tuesday night at Omak. For the Goats Tuesday night, they were led in scoring by the 13 points each of Quinn Stamps and Connor Wilson while Gage Estes contributed nine points off the bench.
The Chelan girls have wrapped up a District playoff berth and currently sit in third place in league standings. The Cashmere Lady Bulldogs have already wrapped up the league championship and will enter District as the number one seed. Chelan still has a chance at finishing as high as second place which would enable them to avoid a loser out game in the first round. For the boys, they are currently in fourth and final playoff spot with a one game lead over Cascade who they play twice this week.
Chelan travels to Leavenworth Wednesday night for their next league action. This is a makeup date for an earlier game that was postponed due to inclement weather. The two schools will meet again in Leavenworth on Friday night. Game time is 5:45 p.m. for the Lady Goats and 7:15 p.m. for the Goats.
LCN will broadcast both games live on the LCN Sports Network. Click here to listen to play-by-play starting with the girls’ pre-game at 5:40.
