Chelan Goats travel to Othello for a non-league match ending with a 1-0 loss to the Huskies. The Goats were coming off the high of their first win of the season on Tuesday vs. the Manson Trojans. They were also getting two of their starters back from injuries that had them out for the past two matches. Having So. Natalia Granados and So. Evelyn Sanchez back gave the Goats a spark on the field. The Huskies are a very well coached team who has a solid back 4 in their defense.
The Huskies made it difficult for the Goats to get shots off. However, the Goats managed to create a number of scoring opportunities. The Defense for the Goats held their line and managed to catch the Huskies offside 19 times during the match. At the half the score remained tied 0-0 with the Goats managing to hold the Huskies to only a few chances.
It wasn’t until the 75th minute of play when the Huskies pulled their starting Sr. goalkeeper and put her up as a forward which gave them the advantage. She was able to take a well stuck shot and place it in the back of the net. This game was a huge accomplishment for the Goats coming away with a 1-0 loss as the Huskies have played and challenged many other dominate programs in the state.
The midfield and defense are now really beginning to come together as a unit. With Avari Barker taking control as the keeper and Denali Corrigan heading up the centerback position. Jrs. Leilani Avila and Reagan Puryear dominated with the poise and knowledge of the game. The midfielders however young are learning each other’s rolls with So. Madeline Cowan and Natalia Granados taking leadership along with Fr. Jazmine Valdovinos lighting up the field. The Goats are continuing to grow and learn from each match experience.
Next week the Goat will travel to Pateros on Tuesday with the match starting at 4:30PM. Go Goats!
