New Features include large Lake Chelan legend map display

information released

The Lake Chelan Historical Society is excited to announce the reopening of the Chelan Museum on April 1st. The museum has been closed to the public since March 9, 2020 due to the COVID pandemic.

Director Ron McGaughey told Lake Chelan Now that he is “absolutely excited to get back to being open to the public”.

You are encouraged to stop in and see how the museum has been refreshed with paint, new signage, and new displays. One of the featured new displays is a 12-foot-tall Lake Chelan Historic Legend map which was installed right after the museum closed its doors more than a year ago. Available for sale is a 24” x 36” poster based on the new display which depicts the lake in a vertical format along with relevant historic entries.

Starting next month, the museum will be open Thursday through Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm. The wearing of face masks will be required and visitors in the building at any one time will be limited. In addition to touring the displays, visitors can also visit the gift store, renew memberships, and purchase a copy of the 50th Anniversary history notes.

The annual meeting of the Lake Chelan Historical Society, traditionally in April, will be postponed until further notice. History Notes, the annual publication of LCHS, will be published in November this year. Members will receive notice in advance.
