The Chelan Ladies have been on the road — and on a roll — playing some beautiful (and HOT!) golf courses these past few weeks.
July 24 – Desert Aire

We teed it up at Desert Aire under a blazing summer sun. For many of us, it was our first time seeing this gorgeous course — and what a treat! Perfectly maintained greens, fairways in great shape, and the bunkers… yes, actual soft sand that was surprisingly easy to escape. A nice change from those “concrete traps” we’ve all known too well!
Representing Chelan were Candace’s daughter, MacKenzie Ballod, Cindi Smith, April Talley, Barb Rayburn, Candace Farnsworth, and Linda Reister.
- Teams 1 & 2 faced a tough Lakeview squad who clearly came to play, but Chelan held strong: 12.5 points.
- Teams 3 & 4 racked up 16.5 points.
And the stars of the day — Candace & Linda — grabbed a whopping 20 points! (Try taking on college girls and their mom… we’ll call that “advanced level golf.”) Despite the challenge, it was a blast — and we all left wishing Desert Aire was just a little closer to home.
August 12 – Sun Country

Fast forward to an even hotter day at Sun Country — thank goodness for all those shade trees (and maybe a little breeze?). For Mac and Jaclyn, it was their first time playing this creative, tree-lined track full of surprises: blind doglegs, water carries, and a par-three that drops straight downhill 145 yards. Judging the yardage was… let’s just say… an adventure. A couple of us “generously overshot” our target. And did we mention trees? Lots of trees.
The Chelan lineup: Mac & April, Cindi & Candace, Jaclyn & Linda R. We went head-to-head against Three Lakes, the team to beat this season.
- Teams 1 & 2 earned 16 points.
- Teams 5 & 6 grabbed 18 points.
- And Cindi & Candace cleaned up, winning 20.5 points and the big honey pot!
The best part? Chelan edged out Three Lakes by a single stroke. That’s the kind of win that makes the heat worth it!
Where we stand now: somewhere in the middle of the pack with two matches left to play:
- Sun Country @ Apple Tree – September 3
- Leavenworth @ Three Lakes – October 7
