Seniors were honored in advance of the match

It was a great day for the Chelan Boys Golf Team today as they blistered their home course shooting one of the lowest scores I’ve seen from a Chelan golf team. The boys shot a team score of 336, led by senior Miles Grossberg, shooting a 1-under par 71!
Coming in with the second best score of the day was Chelan junior Joey Gasper with an 81. Home course advantage sure seemed to help today as all Chelan varsity golfers shot under 100, with the top 4 contributing to the overall team.score, which included senior JD Gonzalez with a 90 and finally getting his game back after healing up from his broken hand, and junior Jagjot Dhaliwal shooting a 94. Also playing well were freshman Duke Nordby with a 97 and junior Decker Marlin with a 98.
Our girls team was missing 3 of its 5 players, but that allowed senior Lana Fielding to have her “moment in the sun” and play in the #1 varsity position.
We also honored our seniors before the match, and we will certainly be missing their presence with us next year.
The final matches for the team will be Regional Championships for the girls next Tuesday (May 11) and next Thursday (May 13) for the boys, both matches being held at Lakeview GC in Soap Lake. Start times for both matches will be 10 am. These matches will include the North Central Washington schools of all size divisions (4A down to the B).
