Chelan Football engaged in a thrilling overtime battle, narrowly falling to Quincy 26-25 In an electrifying showdown under the Friday night lights,. The game was a rollercoaster of emotions for fans on both sides, as Chelan and Quincy traded blows throughout the night in a contest that showcased the heart and determination of the student-athletes.

The game kicked off with Quincy making an early statement, scoring twice in the first quarter. However, the Chelan squad demonstrated their resilience by bouncing back with two impressive scores of their own. The first half ended with a level playing field, locked at 12-12. As the contest progressed, both defenses tightened up, allowing only a single touchdown for each team in the second half. The game eventually headed into overtime with a tied score of 19-19, setting the stage for a dramatic conclusion.

In overtime, Quincy took the first possession and executed a perfectly timed screen play on 3rd and long, securing a critical touchdown. Facing a must-score situation, Chelan’s offense showed grit and determination, with Landon Johnson delivering a one-yard touchdown run. In a bold move, Chelan elected to go for a two-point conversion and the win, but a play action pass eluded them. Lance Gogal carried the Chelan offense with an incredible 36 carries for 2 touchdowns and even added a kick return for another touchdown. Landon Johnson, who was instrumental in the game’s pivotal moments, ran the ball 14 times for 64 yards and contributed 1 touchdown. Quarterback Isaac Wilson went 4-10 for 74 yards passing.

On the defensive front, Landon Johnson’s efforts stood out with 6 solo tackles and 5 assists, while Dominick Solorza also made an impact with 5 solo tackles, 5 assists, and a crucial sack. Reflecting on the hard-fought game, Coach Todd remarked, “I was proud of how our guys played hard and overcame adversity throughout the game. Quincy made just a few more plays than we did. My hat is off to Coach Elliott and the Quincy Jackrabbits.”
