Public Viewing Area Cordoned Off

Information released by Chelan Fire & Rescue

Just a reminder that Chelan Fire and Rescue will be conducting a live burn training session today as they demolish a house on the corner of Chelan and Emerson streets in Chelan. A safe viewing area has been established for interested community members.

Training will begin at 8 a.m. and continue through a variety of exercises and training scenarios over the course of the day. Approximately 40 firefighters from Chelan, Manson, Entiat and Orondo are participating in the training. Once the exercises are concluded, according to Assistant Chief Brandon Asher, “we will literally burn the house down”. The time frame for the final ignition is mid to late afternoon – ranging from 2 – 3 p.m. The goal is to extinguish the fire before dark.

Chelan Valley Housing Trust has announced they will be constructing five townhomes on the site. The CVHT board offered the space to Law Enforcement and Fire and Rescue to use as training before its inevitable demolition.
