For the third time this season, the Girls and Boys varsity teams posted convincing victories over Cascade in Caribou Trail League action. Defense proved to be the key ingredient in both games played last Friday night at Chelan high school.
The Lady Goats only allowed their opponent to score six points in the final three quarters of play, including shutting out Cascade 26-0 in the third period. Chelan coasted to a convincing 66-16 win with junior guard Matea Ivory leading the way with 15 points. The Lady Goats improved their season record to 9-8 and improved to 5-6 in CTL play with one league game remaining.
The Chelan boys also used a strong defensive effort in shutting down Cascade 49-37. Connor Wilson led Chelan with 10 points in a well-balanced attack that improved the Goats league record to 3-8 and their overall mark to 8-9.
Chelan basketball will close out the regular season with two games this week. The Goats will celebrate Senior night as they entertain Tonasket this Wednesday and then wrap up the regular season with a Friday night league contest at Omak. Both Chelan teams have qualified for the Caribou Trail League playoffs which get underway Saturday, February 15 at Eastmont High School in East Wenatchee.
