Goat Basketball Season Ends at Districts
by Dennis Rahm
The Chelan varsity basketball teams both had their seasons come to an end Monday night with losses in the District tournament at Wenatchee High School.
The Lady Goats trailed by eight points at the half against Okanogan but battled back with a strong third quarter to trail only 30-29 headed into the final period. Chelan could never manage to get over the hump and ended up losing 47-39. The Lady Goats were led by the 11 points of senior Lexie Gleasman and nine points sophomore Katie Rainville. Chelan finished the season with an overall record of 12-9.
The Chelan boys also lost their must-win district game Monday evening as they were eliminated by eighth ranked Omak. The Pioneers jumped out early against the Goats and never looked back. Omak was up 12 at the half and to a 62-39 win. The Pioneers won all four head to head meetings with Chelan this year. Six Chelan seniors played their final games including Quinn Stamps, Bert Mendivil, Wyatt Habich, Gage Estes and Owen Oules. Against Omak, Chelan was led by the 12 points of Cade Christopherson and the 10 points each of Stamps and Connor Wilson. The boys finished the season with an overall record of 10-12.
