The New Year Reflects Elections and Administrative Hires

by Dennis Rahm

The start of a new year is fast approaching and with it will come a significant change in the makeup of city government. Chelan will soon be welcoming a new Mayor, two new City Council members, a new City Administrator and a new Parks Department Director.

In fact, the new Parks Director position has recently been filled with the hiring of Paul Horne of Pitsboro, North Carolina. Horne will be formally introduced at this week’s City Council meeting on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the newly elected city officials will officially be sworn into office during a special ceremony scheduled for Thursday, January 2, at 5:00 pm at city hall.

Newly elected council members John Olson and Pete Jamtgaard will be sworn into office along with current councilmembers Ray Dobbs, Erin McCardle and Servando Robledo who all ran unopposed in the General Election last month. Meanwhile, Goedde will be sworn in as Mayor in a separate ceremony.

A search is currently underway for a new City Administrator and the hiring process could take three to four months to complete. Officials at the city, as well as incoming Mayor Goedde, say it’s likely an Interim City Manager will be brought on board until a permanent replacement is named.
