Soccer Training Starts Young in the Lake Chelan Valley

They were a blur of color in the fading twilight. An energetic but shockingly well-behaved group of kindergartners and first graders listened intently to their coaches and practiced soccer drills on Mountain Goat Field last night.
According to Coach Heather Scaman, “this is the 5/6 year old team. We are just doing a clinic this year which means we have no games yet.” Scaman is one of four coaches who are helping to prepare the kids for games next year and teaching them fundamentals of soccer.
The team consists of 39 kids and 4 coaches. They are assisted by 4-6 girls from the CHS Varsity soccer team who volunteer to help with the kids at each practise.
