Bridge at Chelan Falls Road among those inspected
Information released by Chelan County Public Works
Bridge inspections planned for the week of Aug. 5 may impact travelers throughout the county.
While inspections are underway, traffic will be reduced to one lane on the impacted bridges, with flaggers directing traffic. Minor traffic delays are expected. Travelers are asked to find alternate routes during the bridge inspections.
Bridges scheduled for lane closures, with their estimated times, are:
- Chiwawa River Bridge (Chiwawa River Road): 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5.
- Sleepy Hollow Bridge (Sleepy Hollow Road): 8 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6.
- Dryden Bridge (Main Street in Dryden): 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6.
- Cowen-Entiat Bridge (Entiat River Road): 8 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
- New Griffith Bridge (Entiat River Road): 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
- Chelan Falls 2 Bridge (Chelan Falls Road): 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8.
Lane closures are necessary so Chelan County crews can stage a platform truck on the bridge. The platform truck has a long platform that is lowered below the bridge. Crews stand on the platform to inspect the sides and underside of the structure for cracks, rust, bearing condition, and other deficiencies.
Individual bridges in Chelan County typically undergo inspections every two years, depending on the bridge type and condition. Inspections using equipment to inspect the underside of the bridge varies up to a six-year frequency.
