Rooster tails will be flying through the weekend as hydroplane racing returns to the shores of Lake Chelan. It’s the annual Norm Evans Apple Cup Regatta featuring two full days of hydroplane racing from Don Morse Park in Chelan.

Organized by the Pacific Northwest Boat Racing Association and sanctioned by the American Power Boat Association, the event will feature a variety of race boat classifications with heats scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

The Apple Cup Regatta has scheduled full race days on both Saturday and Sunday with activities scheduled to start around 9 am. Spectators can view the race for free from Don Morse Park and other vantage points around the lower end of Lake Chelan. Pit passes can be purchased at a cost of $10.

Each heat is comprised of four laps that total five miles. Classes expected to compete include National Modified, Cracker Box, 2.5 litre stock, Grand Prix, Vintage and more. This weekend’s race is the first PNBRA event of the season.
