County approves an “intent to award” letter with Cascade Central Construction of Wenatchee
information released, photo above: The new Olds Station Campus will be located on 2.75 acres on Ohme Garden Road, just below Ohme Gardens.
This past week, the Board of County Commissioners took another step toward turning dirt on our new Olds Station Campus.
The board approved an “intent to award” letter with Cascade Central Construction of Wenatchee, which was the lowest of four bidders on the project. Cascade Central submitted a base bid of $6,698,000, which was $1.9 million below the engineer’s estimate.
A contract will now be completed and is expected to be presented to the board next month.
Commissioners plan to relocate several departments to the new site on Ohme Garden Road, including motor pool, which manages a fleet of vehicles for 15 county departments. The coroner’s office and functions of the Sheriff’s Office, including Emergency Management and training facilities, also will be relocated to the new property.
Because many improvements to the property (leveling, infrastructure, building pads, permitting) were completed before the county purchased it last year, the county hopes to begin building in the next couple of months and be completed by fall.
The project will be financed through various sources, including the Criminal Justice Sales Tax, the Rural Counties Tax, American Rescue Plan Act funds, and an established credit line with Banner Bank. The county also has requested a Capital Budget proviso from the state Legislature and, if available, will submit a request for federal funding through the Congressionally Directed Spending program.
