Congratulations to 8th graders Natalie Islas and Cray Silva
Information and photos released by Chelan Middle School
Angie Holling, the daughter of Harvey and MinSun Holling, was the kind of student everyone was happy to encounter. She always had a smile, and she consistently participated in class because she had something worthwhile to say. She knew how to be a best friend and was a friend to everyone. She participated in sports and was an academic leader.
Angie may not have been the “best” athlete, the “best” mathematician, the “best” musician, or the “best” whatever…but she DID know how to GIVE her best, and in so doing, she inspired others to do the same. This is why so many of her classmates considered her to be their “best” friend.
Following a sudden illness, we lost Angie in her 8th grade year. Since 1985, we honor her memory each year with the Angie Holling Award, given to the boy and girl from the 8th grade class who best demonstrate the qualities that Angie embodied.
CRITERIA
Friendly, helpful, good citizenship, athletic, academic achiever
This year- the winners were Cray Silva and Natalie Islas.
Here are some comments from staff:
Natalie Islas – She is always involved in activities and sports and she is a leader in the school. I always see her as being polite and kind to students and staff. She is a positive breath of fresh air every time she walks into the room. I believe she embodies all of the criteria of the Angie Holling Award. She’s personable, responsible, outgoing, and stays pretty drama free throughout her MS years. She is also a proven leader in ASB and WEB.
Cray Silva– Cray always goes out of his way to be helpful. He has come to me numerous times with ideas on how to help improve the culture and climate of our school. He is very smart, outgoing, funny, and athletic.
Pictured above: Natalie and Cray are seen here taking a picture with retiree teacher– Mr. Linehan. GO PIRATES!
