The children associated with AMBER Alert, ages two and three, found safely
information released
On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at approximately 2:08 A.M., Washington State Patrol (WSP) Communications was contacted by Oregon State Patrol (OSP) tracking the location of a stolen car associated with an AMBER Alert near the area of westbound Winchester Rest Area on I90.
At approximately 2:21 A.M., a WSP trooper located the stolen blue Mazda CX-5 at the rest area nine miles east of George, WA. The suspect vehicle entered back onto I-90 while WSP followed. Soon after, a traffic stop was initiated, the stolen vehicle fled, leading WSP in pursuit. After travelling approximately 17 miles westbound on I-90, the fleeing vehicle exited onto Silica Rd. and continued westbound for approximately two more miles.
Eventually, WSP seized the opportunity to perform a Pursuit Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver when the vehicle slowed to 34 MPH, successfully stopping the stolen vehicle.
Along with a Grant County Sheriff’s Deputy, the trooper was able to safely take the driver, 29-year-old Adan Osman Abdi, into custody, along with the female passenger, 26-year-old Trayviana Shoulders. The two children, ages two and three, associated with the Amber Alert were located inside the vehicle and placed in protective custody.
Abdi was charged with Felony Eluding and Taking a Motor Vehicle without Permission 2nd degree. Shoulders was charged with a court order violation with other pending charges out of Oregon.
WSP would like to acknowledge our allied agencies, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and the Moses Lake Police Department, for their assistance in the swift and safe apprehension of these two suspects and the rescue of the two children.
