Information and photos released by WSP
Both lanes of Highway 97-A just north of Entiat was closed for several hours due to a Monday morning two-vehicle accident near Earthquake Point. One of the vehicles involved was a Chelan County Sheriff vehicle.
Trooper John Bryant of the Washington State Patrol says the Deputy and three occupants of the other vehicle were transported to the hospital with no life-threatening injuries. The Deputy Sheriff was checked and released.
There is no timeline as yet on when the road will be reopened as Bryant noted anytime an official vehicle is involved in an accident a more detailed investigation is required. Trooper Bryant said roadway conditions were a contributing factor to the accident.
Story Update: 11:50 a.m. WSP reports that Hwy. 97-A has been reopened in both directions.
Highway 97 just north of Wells Dam was also closed for a period this morning due to two separate one vehicle accidents. Trooper Bryant advises motorists to reduce speed and not follow the vehicle in front of you too closely when driving in winter conditions.
