Annual celebration condensed to one weekend

information compiled

The COVID-19 pandemic has played havoc with public events and gatherings since last spring and has forced the cancellation of many, if not most. Despite significant mandated restrictions, the annual Lake Chelan Winterfest celebration will be held.

Normally held over two weekends in Chelan and Manson, this years event has been condensed to one weekend, with many of the activities scheduled for this coming Saturday. With the current statewide mandate by the Governor’s office, masking is required inside public places along with social distancing. Masks are also required in outside public spaces if social distancing can’t be maintained.

As in past years, Winterfest buttons will be sold for five-dollars and can be purchased at the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce. Those with buttons can take advantage of  special offers and discounts at retail stores, restaurants, wineries, cideries, breweries and more.

Winterfest activities will be taking place in both downtown Chelan and Manson and 22 ice sculptures will be installed throughout the valley beginning Friday. Driving tours of the sculptures will be available Saturday through Monday. One of the sculptures will be a Winterfest “selfie” station in downtown Chelan.

Other activities will include Apple Bin rides in Chelan and Wine barrel rides in Manson.

The highlight of the Winterfest weekend will be simultaneous fireworks shows in Chelan and Manson starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The Chelan Fireworks will be livestreamed on Lake Chelan Now’s Facebook Page.
