Douglas County Fire District 4 Appoints New Fire Chief and Assistant Chief

Douglas County Fire District 4 is proud to announce the appointment of Jeff Zanol as Fire Chief, effective May 16, 2025. Chief Zanol brings over four decades of dedication to the department, having first joined the fire district in 1983. His leadership, experience, and deep-rooted connection to the community make him an exceptional choice to guide the department into the future.

Chief Zanol served as Captain from 2012 to 2015 before being appointed Assistant Chief. His promotion to Fire Chief recognizes not only his longstanding service but also his commitment to excellence, training, and community values.

Alongside Chief Zanol, Justin Dennis has been appointed as Assistant Chief. Justin also serves as the district’s EMS Coordinator, bringing critical expertise and leadership to the department’s emergency medical services.

Like Chief Zanol, Justin was raised in Orondo and shares a deep appreciation for the community he now helps lead and protect.

Both Chief Zanol and Assistant Chief Dennis come from families with proud histories of service within the fire district. Their shared background, dedication, and mutual respect for the department’s mission foster a strong sense of camaraderie and teamwork that inspires all members of the district.
