Sheriff Morrison reports, on 12/10/2024, Chelan deputies obtained information that a 12-year-old Chelan resident was in illegal possession of a firearm that had been stolen from another location. Deputies applied for and were granted a search warrant of a residence in Chelan, where they able to safely recover the weapon from the child’s home. The situation was handled with the utmost care and concern, thanks to the collaboration of local law enforcement and vigilant community members.

We are grateful to the citizens of Chelan who brought this situation to light. Thanks to their vigilance, this dangerous weapon was removed from the community without incident. We take all matters of public safety seriously, and this outcome would not have been possible without the action of our concerned residents.
