information released
The Manson cross country team delivered impressive performances at the District 5 Championships on November 2. The 1B/2B girls’ race featured 47 competitors, and Manson’s girls rose to the occasion, securing a remarkable second place finish. They ended just five points behind the first-place team and held a commanding 32-point lead over the third-place finisher.
Grace Walsh led the charge, crossing the finish line in first place with an impressive time of 20:43 to become the Girls District Champion. Kathrin Zhuk followed close behind, securing second place. Eleena Zhuk finished 11th, Yaritzi Villasenor claimed 13th, Samantha Willoughby came in 20th, Lainey Coltman placed 26th, and Emilia Schoenwald rounded out the team with a 27th-place finish. This outstanding team effort earned Manson a coveted spot in the State meet in Pasco on November 9.
In the 2B boys’ race, which had 98 competitors, Manson faced an uphill challenge, as they did not have enough runners to qualify as a full team. Nevertheless, the boys needed to place in the top 42 to advance individually to the State meet. Jacob England achieved a personal record (PR), finishing 32nd with a time of 19:13 and securing his spot at State. Ryker England also earned a PR, placing 54th, while Alejandro Valdovinos-Mendoza finished in 80th.
“We are excited to represent Manson at the state meet with our entire girls’ team and Jacob!” Head Coach Jeff England said.
